Dress it Forward drive collects business wardrobe for those in need
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Men and women who are homeless or who have just come out of jail sometimes have a hard time getting clothing for jobs.
But in New Hanover County several volunteers have come together to Dress it Forward.
We first met Jerri Holliday when we featured her as an extraordinary person of the week.
She’s part of a campaign that helps men and women re-enter the workplace after a long absence.
Philippians 3 Ministries, Inc. and New Hanover County schools will collect donations Tuesday of upscale interview and employment wardrobes from the community.
Organizers say that anyone can help donate and you’re not just getting rid of clothes you don’t need anymore, you’re changing lives.
“We want the community to understand when they’re donating things they are investing not only in the men and women when they come, but their children, grandchildren, their uncle, son and daughter,” Jerri Holliday said. “The whole family reaps the benefit of them coming in and getting some clothing.”
If you’d like to help donate and want to know more about the Dress it Forward drive, you can stop by the Philippians 3 Ministries, Inc. location at 20 N. 4th Street Suite 100 in Downtown Wilmington, or you can contact Jerri Holliday at 910-617-4595 and jerri1on1@ec.rr.com
