Driver dies after crashing into log truck

RIEGELWOOD, NC (WWAY) — A Lake Waccamaw man is dead after crashing into the back of a log truck.

It happened around 2:45 p.m. on Highway 87 in Riegelwood.

The Highway Patrol says 77-year-old Eddie Spalding drove his van into the trailer of the log truck. The Highway Patrol says the truck was not stopped or turning at the time. The driver of the tractor trailer is ok.

Speed was not a factor.
