Drivers on flooded roads in Carolina Beach won’t be fined just yet
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — At a Carolina Beach Town Council meeting Tuesday night, council postponed a vote on fines for driving on flooded roads.
Dale Walters, chairman of the town’s Canal Drive Flooding Advisory Committee, says the proposed ordinance needs some tweaking.
Walters says driving on roads flooded with salt water can create wakes, causing erosion and potentially damaging homes.
Councilwoman Leann Pierce asked Walters to evaluate whether the proposed $500 fine is reasonable compared to other fines in the town.
They will continue discussing the ordinance at a workshop.
