Duo robbed, shot fired during drug deal gone wrong

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say a suspect shot at a victim trying to run after him following a drug deal gone wrong in a Wilmington parking lot.

Wilmington Police say just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, officers got a call reporting gunfire at University Plaza in the 400 block of S. College Road. That’s where police say they discovered a duo who told them they were trying to buy marijuana from two men in the parking lot area there.

During the deal, police say the two men took off with the buyers’ cash. When one of the victims went after the robbers, officers say one of the suspects fired a single shot at him. Police say no one was hurt in the exchange, but the suspects took off from the scene in a silver BMW.
