Duplin County fire kills 88-year-old man

DUPLIN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man was recently killed in a Duplin County house fire.

The 911 Center received a report of an unknown type of fire in the area of 390 Clinic Circle Drive of Rose Hill on Sunday.

Greenevers Fire Department was dispatched to investigate and found a working structure fire.

A primary search of the residence was conducted, and a body, later identified as 88-year-old Morrell Chasten, was removed from the structure.

Lifesaving efforts were performed by medical personnel, but Chasten died from his injuries.
