East Columbus and West Columbus split regular season finale

CERRO GORDO, NC (WWAY)–In the regular season finale for both schools the East Columbus Gators and West Columbus Vikings split their varsity doubleheader. The Gators came out on top in the girls game, while the Vikings boys cruised to victory.

In the girls game, East Columbus used a 20 points third quarter on their way to the 48-45 nail biting win over West Columbus. The win moved East Columbus and Red Springs into a tie for 6th place in the conference. A coin will be flipped to decide the tie breaker. The Vikings will be the eight seed in the Three Rivers Conference tournament.

The boys game was decided after the first quarter, West Columbus jumped out to the 25-3 and never looked back. The Vikings picked up the 81-61 win to end the regular season with a 19-4 record.

The Three Rivers Conference tournament will get started on Monday night.
