ECU star Trevon Brown honored to be the grand marshal of the MLK, Jr. Parade

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — At the MLK, Jr. parade, former New Hanover star receiver and current ECU Pirate Trevon Brown was the parade’s grand marshal.

Growing up in Wilmington, Brown would attend the parade and watch men and women he looked up to pass by. Today he had the opportunity to be in that same spot as his son and others watched.

He calls it a blessing to be part of a day that has so much significance to himself and others here in his hometown of Wilmington.

“I used to come out here and see what’s going on and not really know what it was about,” Brown said. “After growing up and learning about it in school and being in it has been a great honor for the community and the people around here.”

Brown says that he hopes the kids that stand in the same spot he once did can learn lessons from those who are in the parade and grow up to be whatever they want to be.
