Eight race horses killed in Robeson County barn fire

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WPDE) — Eight race horses died in a Sunday night in a barn fire off of Jockey Lane off of Mount Zion in the Red Springs community of Robeson County, according to Red Springs Fire Chief John Ammons.

Ammons said they were able to rescue eight of the horses, but couldn’t safely get to the other eight still in the barn.

He added the fire appears to be electrical at this point.
