WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Empty Bowls Wilmington is returning to the Cape Fear in the middle of March.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Activity Center on March 13.

Empty Bowls has united potters, restaurants, volunteers, and neighbors for more than two decades for a simple meal with a bigger meaning.

Each ticket is $50 and includes one selection from a variety of specialty soup, an artisan bowl provided by local artists, and the opportunity to share a meal in fellowship with neighbors.

Proceeds from the event benefit Good Shepherd Center’s Soup Kitchen and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard food pantry.

The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $75,000 providing vital support for both organizations.

“Empty Bowls is powerful because it brings our community face to face with both the reality of hunger and the impact of collective action,” said Katrina Knight, Executive Director of Good Shepherd Center. “As local funding shifts and needs continue to grow, the support generated through this event helps ensure our Soup Kitchen and pantry partners can continue serving consistent, nutritious meals throughout the year.”

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online.
