Enrollment open for Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the Spring 2026 Citizens Academy.

The free program will provide residents with a deeper understanding of local law enforcement operations.

The 10-to-12-week course will start on February 16th and run once a week on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Participants must pass a background check and be 21 or older.

According to a press release, the program will include a behind-the-scenes perspective of the daily work of deputies, detectives, detention officers, and specialized units. There will be presentations, facility tours, demonstrations, and hands-on-activities.

Enrollment is open through February 8th and those interested can apply online.
