Explore the Cape Fear Festival of Trees at Fort Fisher

FORT FISHER, NC (WWAY) — “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

The annual Cape Fear Festival of Trees kicked off Friday morning at Fort Fisher.

The event raises funds for Lower Cape Fear LifeCare through sponsored trees, wreath sales, and direct donations.

If you plan to attend, make sure to reserve your tickets through the aquarium’s website.

Once inside, you’ll walk through a forest of beautifully decorated trees, each with a unique theme. You can also enjoy the aquarium’s exhibits while you’re there.

Kelly Greenland, the Foundation Coordinator at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, explains what makes the event so special.

“The beautiful marine life all around you, and it’s nice and dark, which makes the trees really come to life. You’ve got the sharks in the background, the big fish… it’s just an amazing backdrop here at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.”

The festival runs through December 30th.
