UPDATE: Man robs hotel at knife-point, ditches stolen cash nearby
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are searching for a suspect they say robbed a Wilmington hotel with a knife, later ditching the cash he got away with Thursday night.
Wilmington Police say it happened just before 8 p.m. at the Extended Stay America Hotel on New Centre Drive. That’s where they say a man walked up to the hotel’s front window with a large knife and said, “give me all your money.”
Officers say the worker gave him the cash he asked for before he took off running from the scene. Police say SABLE and K-9 units were called in to help search for the suspect, but officers only found the knife he was carrying and money he got away with that he apparently ditched nearby.
Police say the suspect is described as a white male, at about 6 feet tall, who was wearing a black hoodie and gloves at the time of the crime. WPD is waiting to get surveillance video from the hotel as they investigate.
