Extradition sought for American hunter who killed lion

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — Zimbabwe plans to seek extradition for the American dentist who killed a protected lion while on a guided hunt.

Minnesota dentist Walter James Palmer reportedly paid $50,000 to hunt the lion, which Zimbabwean officials allege was lured out of a national park and shot with a bow earlier this month.

They say the animal walked around wounded until Palmer allegedly shot it with a gun some 40 hours later.
