Father, son charged after Sunday shooting in Wilmington


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Police have charged a Wilmington man and his son after a shooting that damaged one vehicle Sunday.

According to a release from Wilmington Police, Robert Hooks Sr., 63, of Wilmington, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. Hooks was booked into the New Hanover Co. Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Officials said Robert Hooks Jr., 26, of Wilmington, was also arrested in connection to the incident for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of PCP. He was booked into the New Hanover Co. Jail under a $3,000 bond.

On Sunday around 3:15 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Bonham Ave. after receiving a report about multiple shots fired.

There were no injuries.
