Father, teen son charged with murder after assault victim dies

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A father and his teen son are now charged with murder after the man police say they assaulted on May 10 died.

According to Wilmington Police, 58-year-old Gregory Gineman died Friday evening as a result of his injuries.

Wilmington Police arrested Leonard Pocknett, Jr and his son Leonard Pocknett, III Wednesday morning and were charged with assaulting a man and sending him to the hospital earlier this month.

Jail records show Pocknett Jr. is in the New Hanover County Jail under $2 million bond. Pocknett III is in custody under a $1.5 million bond, according to jail staff.
