Fayetteville woman arrested on larceny and drug charges

EVERGREEN, NC (WWAY) — A Fayetteville woman has been arrested for drug possession and multiple thefts at local Dollar General stores.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Shymaya Newton was stopped during a traffic stop on Monday. Newton was wanted on outstanding charges from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Cumberland County, and authorities in South Carolina.

Upon her arrest, Ms. Newton was found with cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Newton was served with the following charges:

  • Felony Larceny
  • Possession of Stolen Goods
  • Felony Conspiracy
  • Felony Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Larceny of Merchant Using an Emergency Door
  • Misdemeanor Larceny

Newton is being held without bond.
