FAYETTEVILLE (WRAL) — A Fayetteville woman says she was raped by the person who delivered her groceries through Instacart late last month.

The 48-year-old woman, who did not want to be identified, said the person came to her door on the third floor.

The man dropped off her groceries and said he’d ‘be right back.’

“I assumed he’d have more groceries for me,” she said.

But the man returned to her door empty-handed, then entered her apartment unit and raped her.

“Fifteen minutes later, my door’s being broken into, and I was sexually assaulted – raped,” she said. “He knocked. I opened the door and then he pushed himself in. I was taken to my couch and sexually assaulted.”

She said she blacked out, and as soon as she realized what had happened, she called an ambulance.

She called the police and did rape test kit. She shared a police incident report and lab results that show the incident classified as a “sexual assault.”

She says she called her mom to pick her up, and she came home to find a condom wrapper in her bathroom.
