Feral cat tests positive for rabies in Bladen County

GARLAND, NC (WWAY) — A feral cat has tested positive for rabies, according to the Bladen County Animal Services.
The cat was identified Monday in the Cypress Creek Township near the intersection of Bull Street and Fayetteville Road.
Rabies is transmitted by the bite of an infected animal or via contamination of open wounds.
Any person bitten or exposed to the cat from January 25th through January 29th should contact their healthcare provider for a rabies risk assessment.
