The first round of the high school football state playoffs wrapped up Friday night. Check our first round state playoff action.
The high school football regular season is now over. We showcased in detail the South Columbus conference title clinching win over Fairmont on the 5th Quarter. Plus we featured Whiteville's win over St. Pauls and East Bladen's victory over Trask.
Friday may have been our most action-packed 5th Quarter of the season. Loads of significant plays, touchdowns and postgame reaction from our showcase game of the night.
At this point in the season we seem to have a handful of area high school football teams heading in the right direction. Hoggard, New Hanover, Laney, South Columbus, Whiteville and a few others are included in this group. Check out our coverage on Friday's 5th Quarter.
Exciting plays. Loads of analysis with a little bit of rain, but not too much rain. On top of that we have postgame reaction from Hoggard after they edged West Brunswick. Can't beat that for this week's 5th Quarter. Week ten of the high school football season is complete.
We showcased the following game on Friday's 5th Quarter: New Hanover-West Brunswick, Ashley-South Brunswick, Laney-Hoggard and North Brunswick-SW Onslow. We also had a special feature on the West Columbus football team in regard to Hurricane Matthew relief efforts.
Week eight of the high school football season in our region is complete one day earlier than normal. Games were played on a rainy Thursday night instead of Friday due to Hurricane Matthew. Joe Catenacci provided analysis in the 5th Quarter studio with WWAY's John Rendleman.
