Fire hydrant flushing to take place in Sunset Beach

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Sunset Beach Fire Department informs residents of fire hydrant maintenance on Wednesday.

In a Facebook post, the department said crews will be cleaning the threads and making sure caps come off easily around Forest Drive.

Crews will be clearing any limbs or shrubs within a 3-foot radius and flushing the hydrants to clear the lines.

Due to the flushing, residents may experience slightly discolored water during the routine maintenance. If you encounter this, run your taps until the water clears.
