Firefighters respond to brush fire behind Target
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Fire Department responded to a small brush fire behind the Target on Market Street just after 6:07 Friday night.
Capt. Chris Walker said the fire was about half an acre in size and was located behind what appeared to be a homeless. A joint effort between the Wilmington Fire Department, New Hanover County Fire and Rescue, and The North Carolina Forest Service were able to contain the fire by 7 p.m.. The North Carolina Forest Service cut a fire line around the perimeter and continued to put out hot spots until 9 p.m.
No word on what caused the fire, and how much damage it caused if any. No injuries were reported.
