FIRST ON 3: Injured six-foot long alligator removed from MLK Parkway

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Dispatch has confirmed that a six-foot long alligator was safely removed near Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway Wednesday evening.

The alligator was first spotted between Kerr Ave. and N. 23rd St.

Authorities say the animal has a severe neck injury. It took three people to subdue the reptile.

Authorities believe the alligator came from Smith Creek, because they were able to follow its trail by the alligators tail.

Wildlife Removal Services took the alligator and will be putting it back in its natural habitat.
