First ever Farmers MarKID at Wilmington park
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two local companies joined together to help donate food to the Wilmington community with a first of it’s kind Farmers MarKID.
Nourish NC and Farmin’ on Front paired up to bring kids at Portia Hines Park in Wilmington healthy and delicious fruits and vegetables this afternoon.
Children could walk up, grab tickets and pick out what food they wanted.
In addition to the treats, kids could decorate pumpkins or even have fun in a jump house. For Executive Director of Nourish NC Steve McCrossan, he wanted kids to come away with three things.
“Have fun, opportunities about healthy eating, and education. So fun, health and education. And a bunch of free produce and fresh fruits and vegetables to take home with them,” McCrossan said.
With 13.1 million children living in food insecure homes according to FeedingAmerica.org, this Farmers MarKID can help to make a little bit of difference.
