First ever Funky Flowers Fest held at Waterline Brewing

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The first ever Funky Flowers Fest was held on Sunday.

The event was held at Waterline Brewing Company in Wilmington. While sipping on a drink from the brewery, festivalgoers could visit a range of vendors selling food, handcrafted goods, plants, and of course, fresh cut flowers. Downtown ILM Market Owner Bethany Carpenter organized the festival. Her company regularly holds markets with different themes in downtown Wilmington, but she said a flower themed one has always been on her wish list.

“I am just such a lover of flowers, I’m picking them up at every farmers market that I work. I make sure I have them in the house all the time in every single room. So i’ve been a lover for a long time and I’ve met a lot of flower vendors and farmers who grow locally,” she said.

Carpenter added that her company hosts a market each month, and that next month’s theme will be All Things Groovy Hippie Fest.
