FIRST ON 3: BHI’s public safety chief charged with school bus violation


BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The director of public safety for the Village of Bald Head is facing charges in Oak Island.

An Oak Island spokesman said Caroline Mitchell was charged September 14 around 7:30 a.m. for a failure to stop for a bus displaying sign. The charge is considered a Class 1 misdemeanor. Mitchell is due in court November 4.

Bald Head Island Assistant Village Manager Chris McCall said there has been no change in Mitchell’s employment status. Mitchell has served as the director of public safety for the village since early 2013.
