FIRST ON 3 UPDATE: Rouzer talks water woes at Wilmington VA clinic

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — While Congressman David Rouzer toured the Port of Wilmington, WWAY spoke to him about the ongoing issues with the water at the Wilmington VA clinic.

WWAY first reported on the issues in late March when a Do Not Use Water Advisory was issued to the facility by CFPUA. This week, the first round of water testing at the clinic. It will take two more rounds of tests before the advisory can be lifted.

Rouzer said he’s been monitoring the issues daily and says he has been pushing for improvements to the conditions, along with Senator Rich Burr and Senator Thom Tillis. Both senators released statements on the issue last week. This is the first time Rouzer has spoken about the issue publicly.

“It’s a matter that’s very important,” Rouzer said. “Our veterans are very, very important. In fact on our staff we have two people that spend probably 95-99 percent of their time just doing nothing but veterans case work, trying to help them get through the morass of the bureaucracy to make sure that they get the care that they need and that they deserve.”

The next round of tests were conducted this week. Results should be in next week to see if the second round passes.
