UPDATE: Highway 17 back open following flooding issues

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Flooding and ponding on the roads following heavy rain forced some road closures in Brunswick County on Tuesday.

According to Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram’s Facebook page, Highway 17 south between the Town Creek Road area and Zion Church Road closed this morning due to those issues. At around 1:30 p.m., the sheriff tweeted that all lanes were back open.

Sheriff Ingram also said this morning NC 133 is still closed. That area near Orton Plantation has been shut down for a few days.
