Former Carolina Beach police chief appeals firing

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The former police chief appealed his recent termination to the city manager today.

Ken Hinkle was fired earlier this month after a suspension in April. According to the termination letter provided to WWAY by Hinkle’s attorney, Town Manager Michael Cramer terminated the chief due to issues including poor performance, failure to abide by policies and insubordination.

Cramer said Hinkle appealed that firing today, but there will be no decision until next week. Cramer is the sole person involved in the appeal process.
