Former cop facing rape charges

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A former police officer is facing rape charges.

Brunswick County Jail records show Jamie Lynn Clemmons was arrested last night and charged with second degree rape. According to an arrest warrant the offense happened in June. Clemmons is in jail under a $1 million bond.

Clemmons was fired from the Sunset Beach Police Department in 2013 due to issues with a pending DWI case for which he was a witness in the trial.
