Following a week since Wilmington nightclub shooting, restaurant responds to downtown safety
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s been just over a week since a shooting occurred at a Downtown Wilmington nightclub.
On Monday, WWAY spoke with a different Downtown Wilmington business, who said cooperation and communication are reasons people should feel safe downtown.
Shots rang out shortly before 2 a.m. on April 14 inside the Pravda Night Club at 23 N. Front Street. One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. 29-year-old Antonio Beatty was charged with attempted first-degree murder and other charges.
Miranda McCord is the Marketing and PR Manager of Front Street Brewery. She said the incident startled many people, but it shouldn’t discourage you from visiting Downtown Wilmington businesses.
“We all speak very closely in concerning issues, situations, etc., we’ve got a good little community working. We want everybody to know that we do our best in continuing to keep downtown safe,” McCord said.
McCord said Front Street Brewery has always been watchful of suspicious behavior and will continue to work closely with staff, police, and other downtown businesses to ensure the safety of patrons.
