FOODIE FRIDAY: ‘Food Extra’ highlights Cape Fear food, chefs behind the dishes
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The StarNews has put together a 44-page publication highlighting Cape Fear restaurants, chefs and recipes.
The “Food Extra” section serves up the best of the food and drink scenes in Pender, Brunswick and New Hanover counties. In the section they’re also showing you how you can get an international taste right here in the Cape Fear, with lots of diverse eating options. Writer Paul Stephen said they want this section to get people talking and hungry.
“It’s something that is common thread for everyone in this area,” Stephen said. “You’ll never have a hard time starting a conversation about food. It’s one for those things people are always happy to talk about, and I think we have added to the conversation a little bit with this publication.”
The section comes out this Sunday. One of the chefs featured in the “Food Extra” is Pine Valley Market Executive Chef Chris McCauley.
“It’s been kind of cool for me. I am young, this is my first real executive chef’s position, notoriety is a little unfamiliar for me at this point,” McCauley said. “It makes me a little uncomfortable, but at the same time it’s nice to know my hard work is actually starting to pay off.”
