Forecast favors the Cape Fear Fair and Expo
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Last year rain and mud was a big concern for folks on the opening weekend of the Cape Fear Fair and Expo but this year it’s nothing but sunshine and blue skies.
“Really we are truly blessed, a good friend of mine said he plants his garden around this time of year because he knows it’s going to rain,” said 2nd vice president Skip Watkins.
But not this year. A few weeks of dry weather and more in the future is good news for the fair.
“The forecast and extended forecast looks very good and we feel great about it. And folks after Hurricane Matthew, I know everybody’s all got cabin fever,” Watkins said.
Yes, even the Cape Fear Fair is feeling the effects of Hurricane Matthew this year.
“Hurricane Matthew did hurt us a little bit on some of our horticultural because Pender and Brunswick both had tremendous flooding,” Watkins said.
But that won’t stop this year from being bigger and better than ever according to Watkins.
