Former Burgaw finance officer arrested again, facing two new charges

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Burgaw’s former finance officer has been arrested again, according to the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.

42-year-old Hans Kalwitz was arrested Saturday and charged with felony hit and run and assault with a deadly weapon.

He was given a secured bond of $2500.

Back in April, Kalwitz had been arrested after he allegedly hit a 14-year-old boy riding a bike with his Tesla.

He had been charged with DWI, hit and run, and failure to report an accident back then.

The town of Burgaw had fired Kalwitz just a few days after the incident.

It is not clear whether the two new charges are related to his arrest in April.
