Former Carolina Beach officer facing more charges for sex crimes
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A former Carolina Beach reserve officer faces even more sex crime charges.
This time out of Brunswick County.
According to an arrest warrant, Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies charged Joseph Adam Silva, 29, with impersonating a law enforcement officer, two counts of 2nd degree rape, and sexual servitude from incidents in January.
Warrants describe an incident in which he reportedly told the victim he was a police officer investigating a prostitution sting. The warrants said he reportedly showed the victim a picture of himself in a police uniform and said that he would not take her to jail if she performed sexual acts on him.
New Hanover County Sheriff Deputies originally arrested Silva on March 17 for second degree sexual assault. That investigation led to even more charges.
On March 24, New Hanover Co. Sheriff’s deputies arrested Silva for several felonies, including impersonating a law enforcement officer, 2nd degree forced sexual offense and sexual servitude, child abuse, embezzlement and burglary.
Silva is in the New Hanover County jail under a $4.5 million bond.
