Former Carolina Beach police chief’s firing upheld

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The attorney representing former Carolina Beach Police Chief Ken Hinkle said the town manager upheld his client’s termination following an appeal.

Hinkle was fired on May 8 following a three-week non-disciplinary suspension with pay. His attorney, Ben Henline, said it all started after the town manager received a complaint at a town council hearing.

Henline said the appeal was heard by a neutral third party attorney who then reported his finding to Michael Cramer.

“Mr. Hinkle was again very disappointed and he and I will be discussing his other available options in the coming days,” Henline said.

Hinkle began as the chief in November 2013
