Former councilman charged with DWI, assault
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A former Carolina Beach councilman and mayor pro tem is facing charges.
Arrest records show Alan Bradley Gilbert, 53, was arrested at around 2 a.m. in the 600 block of Atlanta Avenue, which is his home address according to records. His charges include assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and driving while impaired. He was booked in jail under a more than $100,000 bond.
A town spokesperson said Gilbert hit Michael Lance, who was walking his bicycle down Raleigh Avenue. There’s no word on Lance’s condition.
Gilbert served as councilman from 2006-2010 and mayor pro tem during some of that time. He lost the November 2007 mayoral race against Joel Macon before losing his seat on council in November 2009.
