Former opponent Martin O’Malley campaigns for Clinton in Port City

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Former Maryland governor and presidential candidate Martin O’Malley was in the Port City Friday in support of Hillary Clinton.

O’Malley spoke about Clinton’s plan for the economy and the importance of voting in this election.

He said this is probably the most important election since the Civil War and says North Carolina plays a pivotal role.

O’Malley also discussed Clinton emails and FBI Director James Comey recently reopening the case.

“I don’t under why he wouldn’t join the other 15 security agencies in the country that have all concluded that the Russians are behind the hacking,” O’Malley said. “Putin is trying to influence the outcome of this election.”

He says whatever difference he had with Clinton during the primary pale in comparison to the differences between Trump and Clinton.

O’Malley also campaigned in Jacksonville and New Bern Friday.
