Former West Columbus standout E.J. Jenkins heating up for Hickory Crawdads

HICKORY, NC (WWAY) — West Columbus High School graduate E.J. Jenkins is making first round money in the minor leagues even though he was a second round draft pick in the June 2015 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. Jenkins is currently assigned to the Hickory Crawdads, a single A team in the South Atlantic League.

E.J. Jenkins got off to a fairly slow start in the 2016 baseball season, but he’s starting to heat up. He’s second on the team with 2 home runs. Jenkins leads Hickory with 15 stolen bases and he also leads the team in runs scored. Hickory is currently 9 games above .500 with a 17-8 record.
