Former Wilmington Police Department member killed in interstate crash

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A former member of the Wilmington Police Department was killed Friday evening in a crash.

Sergeant Kenneth Hopkins worked in Wilmington before moving to Raleigh and retiring from the Raleigh Police Department.

Hopkins died as a result of a crash on Interstate 540.

“Hop,” as he was affectionately called, honorably served in the Marine Corps and then for 22 years with the Raleigh Police Department.
