Fort Fisher to continue selling Confederate flag merchandise
FORT FISHER, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — Since mid-June, a few concerned visitors at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site have asked about the future of the confederate flag.
Site director Jim Steele said as a national debate swirls about the flag’s value, some Civil War aficionados are worried they will have trouble finding flags.
“The sales have had an uptick,” he said. “A handful of people have wondered because the National Parks Service discontinued sales of confederate flag merchandise.”
But the flags will not be disappearing from gift shops run by the NC Division of State Historic Sites and Properties, including Fort Fisher.
