Founder of Wilmington Minority Chamber of Commerce shares his plan to help businesses in the Cape Fear

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Minority Chamber of Commerce will host its official launch and a celebration this week. Founder Atiba Johnson sat down with GMC anchor Tomika Jackson to discuss his vision to help entrepreneurs in the Cape Fear region.

“Just being in the community, we noticed some gaps in services and the education component for minority businesses,” Johnson said. He says, he noticed funding was not reaching the grassroots. “For small businesses there aren’t any start-up grants available. Our plan is to help educate business owners on how to perfect their craft and navigate towards those funds,” Johnson said.

The Wilmington Minority Chamber of Commerce was established to foster growth, networking, and advocacy for underrepresented business owners. By providing essential resources and community engagement, the Chamber aims to build a more inclusive and prosperous local economy.

The celebration ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 27 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wilmington Sportsman Club.
