UPDATE: Freeman Park open again after reaching capacity on Friday morning
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Freeman Park closed to incoming traffic after reaching full capacity on Friday morning, according to the Town of Carolina Beach.
Town officials said no additional vehicles would be allowed entry until further notice.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors,” the town stated in a post on Facebook.
Later in the afternoon, the Town of Carolina Beach said Freeman Park was open again.
The town notes that as visitors leave, others will be allowed to enter.
Capacity will continue to be closely monitored.
Freeman Park, located on the north end of Carolina Beach, is a popular destination during the Fourth of July holiday, especially for beachgoers with off-road vehicles.
