Frontier announces new flights from RDU and MYR

(WNCN/WPDE) – Frontier Airlines announced six new routes at RDU International Airport Thursday morning.

Frontier will now have flights to:

• Buffalo – begins April 11
• Houston – begins April 8
• Milwaukee – begins April 8
• New Orleans – begins April 9
• San Antonio – begins April 9
• San Juan, Puerto Rico – begins April 11

Frontier is offering $29 intro rates on the new routes.

The airline is now the second-largest carrier at RDU by number of destinations serviced – 15.

“The greater Raleigh and Durham communities continue to respond well to our Low Fares Done Right philosophy,” said Tyri Squires, vice president of marketing for Frontier.

All will be served on new A-320 aircraft.

Frontier said this is the largest addition of new cities at RDU since 2007.

Myrtle Beach International Airport is also getting three new seasonal, non-stop, low-cost flights to three cities, thanks to Frontier Airlines.

The company announced the new destinations today, available for purchase at flyfrontier.com with fares starting as low $39 each way.

According to a release, the flights will go to Islip, N.Y., Denver, Colo. and Trenton, N.J., starting in May of 2018.

“We are committed to making flying affordable for everyone and are excited to launch new service to the Myrtle Beach area,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial. “We are proud to announce that our new flights to Denver will expand the area’s nonstop service range to the west and to introduce the only nonstop flights to Islip, NY and Trenton. Local officials are also excited about the new service and feel it will positively impact the area.

Frontier’s new nonstop service from the Grand Strand to Denver, Long Island and Trenton, NJ will be well-received by the local traveling public while making it easier for visitors to get to Myrtle Beach, S.C.,” he said.
