The airline is now the second-largest carrier at RDU by number of destinations serviced – 15.

“The greater Raleigh and Durham communities continue to respond well to our Low Fares Done Right philosophy,” said Tyri Squires, vice president of marketing for Frontier.

All will be served on new A-320 aircraft.

Frontier said this is the largest addition of new cities at RDU since 2007.

Myrtle Beach International Airport is also getting three new seasonal, non-stop, low-cost flights to three cities, thanks to Frontier Airlines.

The company announced the new destinations today, available for purchase at flyfrontier.com with fares starting as low $39 each way.

According to a release, the flights will go to Islip, N.Y., Denver, Colo. and Trenton, N.J., starting in May of 2018.

“We are committed to making flying affordable for everyone and are excited to launch new service to the Myrtle Beach area,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial. “We are proud to announce that our new flights to Denver will expand the area’s nonstop service range to the west and to introduce the only nonstop flights to Islip, NY and Trenton. We look forward to driving new visitors to and from The Seaside Golf Capital of the World with our unique brand of Low Fares Done Right.”

Local officials are also excited about the new service and feel it will positively impact the area.

“Horry County Department of Airports is excited that Frontier Airlines selected the Myrtle Beach International Airport as its next airport to commence operations,” said Scott Van Moppes, director of airports. “The airport’s team continues to keep its operating costs affordable, making it a desirable facility for airlines to launch operations and expand their service offerings. Frontier’s new nonstop service from the Grand Strand to Denver, Long Island and Trenton, NJ will be well-received by the local traveling public while making it easier for visitors to get to Myrtle Beach, S.C.,” he said.

“We are thrilled to welcome Frontier Airlines to Myrtle Beach,” said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. “Adding affordable non-stop air service from key markets like [these] gives local residents more travel options and helps attract more visitors to the Myrtle Beach area. More visitors translates into a stronger economy, more jobs and more money for schools, infrastructure and law enforcement,” said Dean.

“It’s always exciting to welcome new air service, and Frontier Airlines’ decision to open up three markets speaks to Myrtle Beach’s increasing appeal,” said Bill Golden, CEO of Golf Tourism Solutions, the agency responsible for promoting Myrtle Beach as a golf destination. “Long Island and Trenton are outstanding feeder markets, and we are particularly excited about the opportunity to attract Denver golfers. Myrtle Beach’s combination of quality golf and value is the game’s best, and Frontier’s addition of nonstop service from Denver will open one of the game’s most avid markets.”

Frontier Airlines says they are, “focused on offering customers real choice and the ability to customize their travel to their needs and budget,” and “committed to delivering ‘Low Fares Done Right’ to nearly 90 US cities as well as Canada, Dominican Republic and Mexico.
