Fund for Inland Harbor Condominium fire nears goal before final event
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) – The fund for victims of the Carolina Beach condo fire is closing in on its goal.
The Pleasure Island Disaster Relief fund has raised nearly $30,000 since the January 8th deadly fire that killed one woman and displaced dozens. Fundraisers at The Last Resort and The Lazy Pirate raised more than $15,000 according the relief fund.
Their goal is $50,000.
Relief fund volunteers are hoping to meet that goal with the final fundraiser Saturday at the High Tide Lounge.
“We’re just hopeful that we raise as much money as we have in this short amount of time to help these people,” said Disaster Relief fund volunteer Greg George. “They need the money today, not next month or when the insurance check comes in, they need it now they’re without housing and we’re just excited that we’re getting close to our goal.”
The money will go to longer term housing and more for fire victims. The final fundraiser will be from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the lounge off of Carolina Beach Avenue.
If you cannot be at the event, you can still donate on the GoFundMe or on the Disaster Relief’s Facebook page.
