Oak Island approves grant to rebuild pier damaged during hurricane
OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The funding needed for the rebuilding of the Oak Island Pier continues to roll in.
The town council voted at their meeting Tuesday night to approve a new $1.5 million grant.
It will be demolished and a new pier will be built in its place.
The grant approved at the meeting is coming from the Golden Leaf Foundation.
The town already got a $300,000 grant from CAMA and expects $760,000 in reimbursement from FEMA.
