Fundraising Event for Children’s Museum lets attendees explore yachts

WILMINGTON, N.C. — Yachtventure is set to take place this Saturday, October 19, at Bradley Creek Marina from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event, which supports the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, offers attendees a chance to tour luxurious yachts while enjoying an evening of live music, drinks, and a silent auction.

Allie Wallace, a member of the museum’s board of directors, shared her excitement about the event.

“It’s not only a fundraiser to help bring learning and education to all children of Wilmington, but it’s also a very fun event,” Wallace said. “There will be 12 yachts, and you can walk around and explore them – some worth millions of dollars.”

In addition to the yacht tours, guests will enjoy live music, drinks provided by End of Days Distillery, and a variety of auction items. One of the highlights this year is a live auction prize offering a rare opportunity to stay overnight at Frying Pan Tower, located 35 miles offshore.

“You get to ride a boat, be hoisted up, and hit biodegradable golf balls. It’s a truly unique experience,” Wallace said.

Funds raised from Yachtventure will go directly to the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, with a particular focus on supporting the museum’s “Museums for All” program, which provides reduced admission for families using the EBT program.

“We’ve seen a big increase in visitors using the program,” Wallace said. “This event helps us keep the museum accessible for every child in Wilmington.”

Tickets for Yachtventure are available online. You must be at least 21 years old to attend. Wallace encourages attendees to plan ahead by bringing shoes that are easy to remove for the yacht tours and considering alternate transportation if they plan on drinking.
