Funeral held for former Brunswick County Sheriff

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The law enforcement community said goodbye to a longtime sheriff Thursday.

John Carr Davis served as Brunswick County Sheriff from 1983 to 1994 and was a US Navy veteran.  According to the sheriff’s office, Sheriff John Ingram, Chief Deputy Charles Miller and many other began their careers under Davis.

His funeral was held earlier today at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Southport.
