Funeral set for brothers killed in Hampstead crash

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The funeral is set for this weekend for the Charlotte brothers who died from injuries sustained in a Pender County crash.

Dobbs Eddings, 2, died Saturday in a crash on US 17 in Hampstead. His newborn brother, Reed, died Monday after doctors performed an emergency C-section on their mother, Hadley. The family was returning to the Charlotte area following a wedding in the area, according to the family’s church.

According to the obituary for the boys, a service will be held Sunday afternoon at Forest Hill Church in Charlotte. Their father, Gentry, is a pastor at the church while his wife teaches preschool there. A fundraising page setup to help the family has raised more than $170,000.

Matthew Deans, 28, is facing charges including two counts of misdemeanor death by vehicle in connection with the crash.
