Gardner comes in clutch as Ashley downs Laney 45-43
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Ashley girls basketball took an early game of the year candidate over intra-city rival Laney 45-43 on Tuesday.
The hosting Eagles were tied with the Bucs at 34 all entering the 4th quarter.
Down 43-40, Jakicey Gardner hit a deep three-pointer to tie the game. She then drew a foul with 24 seconds left and hit both free throws, which ended up being the game winners.
Gardner finished with 25 points, just over half of the total scoring for Ashley.
