Gas leak shuts down part of South Front Street in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police and fire crews are responding to a gas leak in downtown Wilmington.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the leak was reported in the 100 block of South Front Street.

Officials say part of the roadway has been shut down at Front and Dock streets, as well as Front and Orange streets, while crews work the scene.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route as first responders respond.
